A NOR gate is a logic gate which gives a positive output only when both inputs are negative. For example, the first embedded system , the Apollo Guidance Computer , was built exclusively from NOR gates, about 5, in total for the later versions. Today, integrated circuits are not constructed exclusively from a single type of gate. Instead, EDA tools are used to convert the description of a logical circuit to a netlist of complex gates standard cells or transistors full custom approach. This is made by joining the inputs of a NOR gate. An AND gate gives a 1 output when both inputs are 1.

The AND gate is a basic digital logic gate that implements logical conjunction - it behaves according to the truth table to the right. The function can be extended to any number of inputs. Additional inputs can be added as needed. For more information see Logic Gate Symbols. The digital inputs a and b cause the output F to have the same result as the AND function. AND gates are available in IC packages.

The AND gate is an electronic circuit which gives a high output only if all its inputs are high. The AND operation is represented by a dot. The OR gate is an electronic circuit which gives a high output if one or more of its inputs are high. The NOT gate is an electronic circuit which produces an inverted version of the input at its output. It is also known as an Inverter.

A high output 1 results if both of the inputs to the gate are the same. If one but not both inputs are high 1 , a low output 0 results. There are two symbols for XNOR gates : one with distinctive shape and one with rectangular shape and label. Both include four independent, two-input, XNOR gates. Datasheets are readily available in most datasheet databases and suppliers. If a specific type of gate is not available, a circuit that implements the same function can be constructed from other available gates. However, this approach requires five gates of three different kinds.
